"There are always so many things to do, painting benches, cutting brush and cleaning the pavilion.  Painting is fun and is a nice change of pace for the crew.  The bleachers are interesting because there is a certain way the have to be removed and put back.  I’ve learned that it is important to know what your job is in advance so that you can be prepared, and wear the right clothes for the job!"

The CDO Workforce Crew under the direction of Anita Palmer, spent the summer involved in a variety of maintenance tasks so the local community could enjoy a clean, well maintained park.  They cleared rubbish along the river and around the park.  They trimmed brush and brought a flower garden back to life that continues to impress all who enter.  They regularly clean the pavilions after social gatherings and stained more than 20 picnic tables and benches throughout the park this summer.

"I get to do different things every day!  I get along well with my boss and co-workers.  Painting the bleachers is a lot of fun.  I have learned that hard work pays off, if  you do a good job the first time you don’t have to do the job over!"

Roxbury Worksite

The historic, 14 acre park is located in the hamlet of Roxbury along the East Branch of the Delaware River.  It was formerly the estate of Helen Gould Shepard.  The park provides the greater community with a venue to picnic, fish, hike, or cross-country ski.  The park is host to special events by the Roxbury Nine Vintage Baseball Team.

The crews final job for the season is painting the bleachers for the Hamlet’s Labor Day Celebration and Baseball Game.
